Heavy rains and high-speed winds lashed Noida on the morning of Independence Day hit power supply and disrupted normal lives in the morning hours. Many could not watch the national flag hoisting ceremony on television due to this. And they definitely missed the first Independence Day speech by the Chief Minister of UP Mr Akhileh Kumar Yadav and gave a skip to the slip of his tongue when  he referred Father of the Nation - Mahatma Gandhi as the 'President Mahatma Gandhi'. However Noida residents celebrated 67th Independence Day with great fervor at the RWA grounds, office premises, schools and other educational institutes. Flag hoisting, prize distribution ceremony, cultural programs and kite-flying were the common features of all the ceremonial programs across the city.
